People who come to St. George during the winter months are referred to by local as “snowbirds.”

Climate

Why do “snowbirds” come? To escape the snow and the cold weather that exists in much of the country in the winter months. St. George has a year average temperature of 61 degrees. And winter time highs can be in the mid 50’s. St. George is located in the northern extension of the Mojave Desert. Because of its low elevation, St. George has low humidity, generally clear skies and very mild winters. Making the climate perfect for winter living!

Skiing

Snow is not a very common occurrence in St. George and when it does the accumulation is not significant. This may lead one to believe that to live in St. George you have to sacrifice winter sports. This is not the case, Brian Head Resort is just an hours drive from St. George. And a few more hours north you have access to Park City and some of the greatest skiing on earth. Scenery

And in less than one hour you can be taking in the views of Zions National Park. The natural scenery that exists in St. George year round is truly breath taking.
