Bob Richards started his real estate career June 1, 1992. Originally from Salt Lake (Sugarhouse / Parley’s Way area) and an Honors graduate of Westminster College in Marketing, Bob’s career path was destined to be in the hotel management arena. However, while owning a couple of rental homes by the UofU and as Sales Manager of The Inn At Temple Square, Bob pursued his real estate license to know how to become a better Landlord. In addition to all of this, Bob and his Dad owned a book store in Bountiful, UT; Temple View Book & Tape. Needless to say, he had practically zero free time. But Bob’s always had that work ethic.
After receiving his real estate license, Bob received some recruiting form letters from ERA Brokers, Coldwell Banker and Century 21 in St. George, UT which basically said, “if you’re thinking about selling real estate, come to St. George”. So in early May, 1992 Bob spent a long weekend interviewing with each Broker and selected to begin his career at ERA Brokers Consolidated, managed by Thayne Houston. Within 4 weeks,Bob took a major leap of faith and moved to St. George starting a new career not knowing a soul in southern Utah let alone how to build a real estate business.
Bob found a rental in “The Wedge Apartments” across the street from Dixie State University and spent Summer Quarter in a lower level unit. Unfortunately, he had “party boys” above him who every night would have their music loud and drinks continually poured. So, with Bob’s best friend, Jeni Dog (a Sheltie), Bob ventured out from 10pm-1am and learned the southern Utah streets, markets, prices, picked up flyers, and got an idea where to focus his attention in business. At 1pm, he and Jeni would go to bed and be back up at 6am to go to work. That’s how he learned about southern Utah!
Thankfully, Bob had an outstanding Broker, Thayne Houston, who was there to help, guide, and direct Bob into being a successful Realtor. Bob will forever be grateful for Thayne’s counsel and friendship and is considered as one of the major reasons why Bob’s a successful Realtor. He is one of Bob’s heroes and idols in life.
The saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder” is true because in October 1992, Bob married Becky Duncan from Bountiful who he had met and dated for a number of years prior to moving to St. George. They met at Bob’s book store. After our marriage, we found a rental home together and worked hard to purchase our first home for $55,000 behind Harmons Grocery Store off 700 South in St. George. We’ve owned the home ever since.
In January, 1998, Bob was involved in the purchase of RE/MAX First Realty from the previous Broker along with other Realtors to form a “best of the best” brokerage where 12 of the Top 20 agents were under our roof. It was a powerful and amazing experience for a lot of years but the tide changed where philosophies and direction of the business didn’t coincide with my business practices or desire to keep the customer first.
In 2014, Bob moved to Keller Williams, St. George on 1624 S. Convention Center Dr.. Based out of Austin, Texas and an internationally known and recognized company, Keller Williams adhere’s to the highest standards of ethics, morals, values, and professionalism. Those used to be found at RE/MAX but were compromised. Bob’s integrity means a great deal to him and he wanted to surround himself with other Realtors and a corporate culture that held the same values with a solid, honest core belief system.

I was born and raised in Southern California, however I’ve been here in St. George, Utah since 2001 and I absolutely love it. I attended Dixie State University and then settled down and became the lucky mother of two beautiful girls, Ava 11 and Savannah 8. The three of us enjoy all the things that St. George and the surrounding areas have to offer. Some of our favorite things to do are travelling, boating, 4 wheeling and wakeboarding. After Graduating High school, I joined the United States Coast Guard and served as an active duty member for 4 years. After my service I went to college to pursue a Business degree. During this time my wife and I built a very successful business allowing me to be self-employed by the time I graduated. After five years of running our business I decided it was time to pursue another income stream. As a young child I watched my father become a successful realtor and felt a desire to follow in his footsteps.
